Free website check

Send me your website address.

I’ll go through it properly and write back with what I find: what’s wrong, what’s fine, what it would cost to sort out, and what you can safely ignore.

I’ll use this to reply to you and nothing else – no list, no sharing, no tracking. What I do with it.

Or just email hello@williamstewart.co.uk, or text 07891 492388. Whatever suits.

  • It’s free. There’s no catch further down the page.
  • No card, no sign-up, no account to create.
  • I’ll only ring you afterwards if you ask me to.
  • You’ll hear back within one working day, with the write-up inside two.
  • Where everything is fine, I say so rather than inventing something.

What I look at

Whether it works on a phone
Most people will see your site on a phone, on mobile data, standing outside. That is the version that matters and it is the version most people never check.
How fast it is
Measured properly, on a mid-range phone rather than my desktop. Slow sites lose people before they see anything at all.
Whether anything is broken
Contact forms that no longer send, pages that error, links that go nowhere. These fail silently and can go unnoticed for months.
How out of date it is
What it is built on, whether that is still supported, and whether anything on it is a known way in.
Whether you can be found
Your Google listing, whether your details match everywhere, and whether you show up for the obvious searches near you.

The obvious questions

Why would you do this for free?

Because it takes me half an hour and it is the most honest possible advert. A site in decent shape gets told so, and it has cost you nothing but the email. A site with problems gets a list, and you can take that list to anyone you like.

Are you going to hound me afterwards?

No. You get the reply, and then you hear nothing unless you get in touch. I do not have a sales sequence to put you in.

What if I already have someone?

Then send it to them. Genuinely: a second opinion is useful, and if they fix it that is a good outcome. I would rather be the person who told you than the person who sold you something.
